Survivors of the van-explosion
Residents and people within Ibafo were stunned on Teusday, February 9, following an accident that could have claimed lives.
Reports reveal that a van was on a high speed when one of the back tyres burst and the vehicle somersaulted.
Sources say the van with number plate, Ogun AAB 163 XA, consequently exploded and went up in flames at about 11am.
Two people reportedly escaped death narrowly, as they were saved from the wreck just before the explosion.
An unidentified woman, alongside her driver, were the only ones in the van which allegedly somersaulted after a tyre burst.
Passersby and sympathizers were said to have quickly moved in and rescued the duo.
Witnesses say the driver of the van, lost control of his wheel immediately the tyre burst.
Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were on the scene to control the traffic that had built up on the road, while men of the Ogun state fire service reportedly put out the fire.
The unnamed driver said: “We were coming from Lagos and going to Sagamu to make deliveries of some sausage rolls.
“I didn’t know what went wrong. I just discovered that one of the tyres burst and I lost control of the van. It somersaulted several times. We are lucky,” he added.
The Punch reports that the anonymous woman who appeared dazed in tears kept re-echoing “Thank you Jesus.”
